Waspbane has appointed Ferrx as its official distributor in Holland. A dutch version of the waspbane website is under construction and is expected later in the year.

CPD Accredited Seminars

The first of four seminars held in Ashford in Kent was well attended and well received. General feedback was very positive with pest controllers agreeing that the seminars provided new information about new market potential in dealing with nuisance wasps.

In field studies across the country, WaspBane has helped reduced sting rates in visitor attractions by as much as 97%. Now the strategies behind this achievement are to be shared in a series of seminars specially for pest controllers hosted by WaspBane across the country. Seminars are to be held at the following venues:

Roundhouse Hotel (Bournemouth):               10th May 2006
Rothley Court Hotel (Leicester):                     17th May 2006
Ramada Leeds North (Leeds):                         24th May 2006

The cost of each seminar is £245.00. For 2006, and as part of an introductory programme, WaspBane will be sponsoring the first 100 applicants. Sponsorship is available on a first come first served basis exclusively to pest controllers.

Each seminar attracts 5 CPD points under the PROMPT (basis) scheme. Topics covered include;

The Wasp; A Growing Liability - If wasp control strategies are able to reduce sting rates in visitor attractions by as much as 97% then there is an issue of redefining the wasp from an Act of God to a manageable hazard. This topic addresses the wasp as a hazard and the need to reduce risk.

Wasp Behaviour and Life Cycle; What Makes a Wasp Tick? - Wasps are a complex social insect and in order to control them it is essential to understand them. This topic provides a valuable insight into wasp behaviour helping to develop an understanding for how such behaviour can be exploited to effect control.

Environmental Impact of Wasp Control Strategies - The interaction of the wasp and the environment is explored and the impact of wasp control methods on the environment evaluated.

Effective Trapping as a Means of Wasp Control - The science behind trapping as a means of wasp control is explained in relation to specific behavioural traits of the wasp. An insight into key trapping objectives is defined and the use of WaspBane explained.

Joined Up Nuisance Wasp Control - The final topic knits together the subject matter of the preceeding topics to provide a comprehensive strategy for dealing with nuisance wasps. Participants will be invited to participate in  group sessions using examples taken from real situations to practice risk assessments and control strategies.

Any persons interested in attending the seminars should contact WaspBane by e-mail in the first instance. Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Seminars are only available to professional pest controllers or to commercial or charitable organisations with pest control requirements.

WaspBane Launches into Europe

WaspBane has appointed MCPM of Lubeck in Germany as it's official distributor for the German, Austrian and Swiss markets.

WaspBane generated significant interest at its European launch at the Eurocido Pest Control Fair in February in Dortmund in Germany. MCPM who were representing WaspBane at Eurocido were inundated with interest and 2006 promises to be an exciting year!
